After becoming caught on the attraction’s gigantic water slide overlooking the ocean, a female cruise ship passenger was left high but not dry. On TikTok, a video of her unusual stranding at sea has received over 15 million views.
Norwegian Cruise Lines’ Ocean Loops slide, a closed-tube, double-loop thrill that sends sliders tumbling from the top deck and flying out over the sea before curving back to base like a watery roller coaster, is said to have been involved in the maritime disaster.
The video begins with an unidentified female rider tumbling down the first two sections and up to the final curve. Unfortunately, the slider lacks the necessary momentum to pass through the corkscrew and plunges backward, trapping her in a transparent area of the attraction dangling terrifyingly above the sea.
The video concludes with the stranded rider attempting to slide back to the starting point while fellow passengers watch in disbelief.
The disaster, which seemed to combine claustrophobia and a fear of heights, terrified all of the viewers and passengers.
Fortunately, she was able to evacuate the slide without the assistance of emergency personnel.
The TikToker also stated that the turn of events happened so quickly that she was out and ready to do the slide again by the time they headed that way.
It is unknown which vessel was involved in the tragedy. However, the hashtags indicate that it was the Norwegian Encore, a 1,094-foot ship with the world’s largest race track and an Atlantis-themed laser tag course.
