In performative actions intended at saving the earth from what they claim is imminent devastation in the near but ever-lengthening future, climate alarmists are not recognized for their nuance or reasoning. Adbusters has launched a new campaign aimed at SUV drivers as part of its zero-emissions goal.
Adbusters made a request last month to deflate SUV tires in order to rescue the earth, or something, calling it a gentle escalation of techniques. They even made a nice pamphlet to explain to SUV drivers why their vehicle had been illegally immobilized by a bunch of crazies. “It’s not personal,” the leaflet begins, before going on to make preachy claims about how SUVs are disproportionately contributing to the climate crisis and advising the unlucky driver to walk, bike, or take public transportation if necessary because it’s time to wean ourselves off of these fuel juggernauts.
The fact that cars with low tire pressure are less efficient or that immobilized vehicles are more likely to cause their drivers to call a tow truck or roadside assistance to drive to and fix the disabled SUV appears to be the cause.
Climate campaigners should not target working people, despite the fact that their SUVs will have to be replaced if the aim of zero emissions is to be achieved, but rather rich communities. Those who are disabled and have a handicapped plate or hang tag on their SUVs will also be exempt.
Time to do something about SUVs.

They're the 2nd-largest contributor to the increase in global CO2 emissions since 2010, more than aviation.
This is a gentle escalation of methods to drive the urgency of this climate crisis home and engender a systemic aversion to SUVs. pic.twitter.com/aoxLfZpjUt
Here's a leaflet you can put on SUV windshields when you deflate their tires to convey the message. pic.twitter.com/gn6sO9KYoG

Start by targeting wealthy neighborhoods—our goal isn't to disrupt working people, don't deflate vehicles with disabled stickers or hangers, and leaflet to let drivers know their tires are flat. pic.twitter.com/WIiZMVf5Tw

According to Adbusters, the approach of sticking pebbles in SUV tire stems succeeded in Sweden and the United Kingdom, which is why they’re attempting to attack the monster of automobile culture in the United States with a similar campaign.
Adbusters provides further information about their campaign’s aims by linking to the Tyre Extinguishers website. The Tyre Extinguishers also recommend practicing vandalism on a bicycle tire first, working under the cover of night, and bringing friends but splitting into pairs to prevent forming huge groups.
Because they believe we cannot electrify our way out of the climate catastrophe, the website also says that hybrids and electric automobiles are fair game.
