According to US sources, the China Eastern Airlines jet disaster that killed 132 people was caused by a deliberate act.
On March 21, a Boeing 737-800 passenger plane traveling from Kunming to Guangzhou collided into a hilly terrain in Guangxi, China. There were no survivors among the 123 passengers and nine crew members.
The plane’s flaps were not engaged, and the landing gear was not deployed, according to officials. They believe the plane’s near-vertical plunge would have needed deliberate force.
According to Chinese officials, the jet smashed into the ground with such power that it formed a 66-foot deep crater.
Investigators also looked into one of the pilots’ personal lives and backgrounds, and believe he was dealing with personal concerns at the time of the disaster.
All information on the probe will come from their Chinese colleagues, according to the National Transportation Safety Board, although authorities and Boeing have not identified any technical faults. According to sources, Chinese investigators have not found any mechanical faults.
The cockpit voice recorder was discovered on March 23, and the flight data recorder was discovered on March 27.
The airplane plummeted from 29,000 feet to 8,000 feet, leveled out, and then proceeded into freefall, according to preliminary statistics. The plane was seen nose-diving into the earth in one footage.
