CDC Reports Additional Monkeypox Cases Appearing In The US

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, four more cases of monkeypox have been detected in the United States (CDC).

The cases join a growing list of 25 instances reported across the country.

California and New York each have five, while Colorado, Illinois, and Utah each have two.

The monkeypox virus has been documented in Georgia, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington state, with one case each.

According to the article, more than 700 instances have been documented internationally, in addition to those in the United States.

While monkeypox is causing anxiety among experts, the levels are nothing near those seen with the coronavirus.

Furthermore, no deaths from monkeypox have been documented, and many patients have healed without the need for hospitalization.

Monkeypox may be treated using smallpox immunizations, but no vaccine has been developed especially to prevent it. Despite some public worries, the spread is obviously a problem, but it is not a pandemic.

Some cases, such as one in Florida, were removed from the agency’s database.

Genetic research of recent monkeypox cases reveals there are two separate strains of the virus, according to US health experts.

It’s possible that it’s been spreading unnoticed for some years, based on the findings.

Jennifer McQuiston of the CDC said further research is needed to know how long it has been in the United States.

The symptoms of monkeypox, which is linked to smallpox, are less severe.

Before lesions appear, some of these symptoms include fever, chills, rash, and pains.
