Several migrants appear to be seen entering St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Washington, D.C., in footage taken on Friday, as busloads of people who entered the country illegally continue to arrive in the city.
The footage, which was captured on Friday only a few feet from the church’s door shows what appear to be migrants lining up and waiting to enter the building by going down a sidewalk.
St. Peter’s has begun making an attempt to help the migrants coming in Washington, DC, via bus.
A Facebook post from the church, which is a short distance from the Capitol and less than two miles from the U.S. As part of our assistance efforts for migrants arriving in Washington, DC, the head office of Immigration and Customs Enforcement stated that it was looking for durable shoes. via bus.
Donations can be given to the parish hall on Wednesdays or Fridays, however the church asked that no flip-flops be worn.
A sign-up website for volunteers to help with the church’s efforts to give food, respite, and transportation assistance for hundreds of immigrants who are arriving in DC by bus every day was linked in an earlier post by St. Peter’s.
“St. Peter’s will be providing space, materials, goods, meals, and volunteers to help welcome immigrants who are arriving in D.C. by bus daily. We have a number of different areas of need: welcoming & assisting guests, hall clean up, on-call transportation, and donating toiletries, OTC medical items, diapers & wipes, backpacks, clothes, baby strollers and bath towels,” St. Peter’s sign-up page read.
D.C. earlier this week D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser asked the federal government to accept immigrants who entered the nation illegally as a human rights problem. be permanently activated to help with what she described as a humanitarian disaster.
Both Bowser and New York City Mayor Eric Adams have sounded the alarm about migrants being transported to their cities, blaming Arizona and Texas for the inflow. But Arizona has refuted any claims that it has sent migrants to New York City.
According to Bowser, the D.C. D.C. and the Armory will serve as processing hubs. Resources from the National Guard will be employed to assist migrants who arrive by bus.
