Anti-Trump Republican Adam Kinzinger has retired.
In a notorious move, the representative from Illinois voted with ten other Republicans for President Donald Trump’s impeachment.
Nancy Pelosi also selected him to be one of the two Republicans to serve on her Democratic-led partisan commission to investigate the Capitol riot of January 6.
Redistricting maps have been issued by Democrats, which has led to Kinzinger’s retirement.
Kinzinger explains in a video that the “time” is now to move on.
He was also in awe of the nine Republicans who voted for Trump’s impeachment.
“My disappointment in the leaders that don’t lead is huge,” he stated.
“Dehumanizing each other has become the norm,” Kinzinger stated about those holding political office.
“We’ve taken it from social media to the streets. We’ve allowed leaders to reach power selling the false premise that strength comes from degrading others and dehumanizing those that look, act, or think differently than we do,” he added.
“As a country, we’ve fallen for those lies, and now we face a poisoned country filled with outrage blinding our ability to reach real strength.”
All anti-Trump Republicans face tough reelections in next year’s midterm elections.
Rumors circulate that Kinzinger could challenge J.B. Pritzker, Illinois’ Democrat Governor.
