Everybody in Washington, D.C. knows why President Biden gave a big speech about crime on Wednesday: The polling the White House is getting is abysmal. The speech on Wednesday was intended to be damage control but didn’t work.

Biden’s main message is that guns are making crime more common. It’s strange. It’s odd that a police officer can discharge his gun and shoot a criminal. But if a thug does it, it’s the gun’s fault.

Biden’s analysis shows that crime is increasing across the board. Robberies and arsons, assailants, carjackings, looting, hate crime, etc. The majority of these crimes don’t involve guns.

So, in the middle of this crime wave, Biden’s big idea is to make it harder for law-abiding Americans to protect themselves with firearms. He vowed [Wednesday] that his policy is “zero tolerance for gun dealers who willfully violate key existing laws and regulations.”

Fine. Anyone who violates the law will be prosecuted. Why is he so obsessed with gun dealers? Is there zero tolerance for criminals using guns illegally? If it weren’t so serious, Biden’s speech ought to have been funny.

It couldn’t have been worse timing. Many Americans are now trying to buy guns because of the current crime wave. In this environment, Biden has just announced policies that criminals will not follow, but which will make it more difficult for you to protect yourself and your family.

This is insanity! Like so much of the left’s agenda, it’s completely backwards!
