But today, via his daughter Rumer’s Instagram page, Willis’ family has made the tragic announcement that the actor is retiring from performing due to health issues.
As a family, we wanted to share with Bruce’s incredible supporters that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is affecting his cognitive abilities. As a result of this, and after much thought, Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him.
Happy Birthday, Bruce! Thankful for our blended family 🤍 pic.twitter.com/CZ8Gm2Zsrh— Demi Moore (@justdemi) March 20, 2022
Our family is going through a difficult time, and we appreciate your continuous love, compassion, and support. We’re dealing with this as a strong family unit, and we wanted to include his fans because we know how much he means to you, just as you do to him.
Aphasia is a language condition caused by injury to the part of the brain that controls language expression and comprehension, according to Johns Hopkins Medicine. According to Johns Hopkins, the disorder causes a person to be unable to interact successfully with others, with the degree of the disorder varying depending on which regions of the brain are affected.
Ex-wife Demi Moore signed the declaration with Willis’ children Rumer, Scout, Tallulah, Mabel, and Evelyn, as well as his present wife Emma. Their ability to maintain a positive connection is extremely rare in Hollywood, as seen by what we just witnessed at the Academy Awards event last weekend.
Even before the tragic news arrived, you could see Demi and Bruce’s incredible friendship on display in a previous story.
