Americans must be ready to combat the spread of Omicron’s new COVID-19 variant Omicron. However, it is too early to know what actions will be required, Dr. Anthony Fauci, top U.S. infectious diseases official, stated Sunday.
Fauci said that the United States must do “anything, and everything” in case of variants. However, it is too early to know if we will need new lockdowns or mandates.
He said, “You want to be ready to do everything and anything.”
A new Omicron coronavirus variant was first identified in South Africa and has been reported in increasing numbers of countries.
Fauci said Saturday in an interview with NBC News that it was possible that the virus was already present in the United States. However, no official case has been established.
On @TODAYshow, Dr. Anthony Fauci told @PeterAlexander he “would not be surprised” if the new Omicron variant is already in the U.S.
