Lawmakers have filed legislation that would prohibit the federal government from flying the BLM flag following Biden issues an executive order for U.S. Embassies to hoist the flag that was formulaic, according to The Daily Wire.
If the bill is passed it would establish the following rules:
The flag of America.
The flag of the country in which the diplomatic or consular post is situated.
The flag of a State, territory, or possession of the USA.
A departmental or secretarial flag.
A departmental or secretarial flag.
A flag made to honor persons that are classified as prisoners of war or missing-in-action.’
The bill restricts what kinds of flags that the Secretary of State can fly at diplomatic and consular posts around the world. A press release from the lawmakers highlighted the far-left political agenda of the organization.
“It’s inappropriate for President Biden and Secretary Blinken to authorize and encourage the display of inherently political flags which are by no means connected with the U.S. Government over American embassies abroad,” Malliotakis stated.
“The American flag is a beacon of freedom and hope for oppressed peoples around the world; it ought to be the principal flag flown over our embassies and that’s exactly what my legislation seeks to accomplish. The Administration’s directive is an insult to people who made the ultimate sacrifice for our flag and our country — especially as we head into Memorial Day weekend — and it’s absolutely ridiculous that legislation is required to correct this problem.”
Stefanik stated,”Our beautiful American flag should fly over our U.S. embassies across the world — not the flag of a political organization based on Marxists.”
“The passing of George Floyd opened significant discussions surrounding police reform in america. But, using United States tools to show a non-government organization flag over United States embassies isn’t permissible.”
“I encourage every American to exercise their First Amendment right to free speech and to keep civil dialogue around this issue. However, these discussions shouldn’t be aired out on an international stage. Our nation’s resources should be used to emphasize our motto, not our political branches”
“The only flag which should describe the United States of America in our embassies abroad is Old Glory. ”“Political flags don’t have any place in exemplifying our country overseas.”
