Myanmar Court Sentences US Journalist to 11 Years in Jail

Danny Fenster, the lawyer representing Danny Fenster, a U.S. journalist in detention, said that he was sentenced to 11 years imprisonment by a court in Myanmar. He was found guilty of several charges including incitement to spread false or inflammatory information.

Lawyer Than Zaw Aung stated that Fenster, the managing editor for Frontier Myanmar’s online magazine, was also guilty of violating visa regulations and contacting illegal organizations.

Fenster has been held since May. Fenster is still being held in detention since May. He faces additional charges from a different court, for violating the antiterrorism law and a statute that covers treason or sedition.
