Phone Scammer Nabbed After Threatening The Wrong Elderly Couple

A Jamaican phone scammer who made a life ripping from and scaring elderly couples was recently apprehended after targeting the wrong people.

William and Lynda Webster aren’t your average senior citizens. William was a long-serving government officer who served as head of both the CIA and the FBI. He is the only individual who has ever held both roles.

When a phone scammer contacted him and his wife, making absurd claims and threats, the Websters understood what to do.

They gathered evidence against the con artist and alerted federal investigators, who followed the caller to Jamaica. Agents were waiting to apprehend the fraudster when he foolishly entered the United States on a trip later. The Websters now hope that by sharing their tale, others will be able to thwart fraudsters as well.

Lynda Webster informed a local news site that a fraudster disguised himself as David and contacted her husband several times, telling him he had won $72 million.

She angrily refused to transfer any money and advised the con artist not to phone again. Instead of following her advice, the fraudster is said to have persisted. He even started threatening her and her spouse with violence.

The latter figure has increased by 74% since 2020. Lynda went on to say that everyone may assist to prevent such heinous fraud from happening.

The FBI advises senior fraud victims to contact the National Elder Fraud Hotline at 1-833-FRAUD-11 to report financial fraud (1-833-372-8311).
