Poll Shows Majority of Voters Believe Dems Ran Economy into the Ground

According to a Rasmussen Reports poll released on Wednesday, the majority of respondents feel the Democrats are to blame for the recession in the American economy.

Senator Mitch McConnell, the minority leader in the Senate, is quoted as saying last month that Democrats “Democrats inherited an economy that was primed for a historic comeback, and promptly ran it straight into the ground.”

Out of 1,000 likely voters polled by Rasmussen between July 28 and July 31, 59 percent supported the Kentucky senator.

Moreover, 91 percent of respondents claimed that their decision to vote in the next midterm elections was influenced by the economy.

According to the poll’s analysis, the majority of people across all racial categories — 62 percent of whites, 53 percent of black voters, and 67 percent of other minorities — believe the U.S. economy is now in a recession.

Similarly, 63 percent of other minorities, 54 percent of voters who identify as black, and 69 percent of white voters believe economic problems will play a significant role in this year’s congressional elections.

On NBC’s “Meet the Press,” on Sunday, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen asserted that the economy is not in a recession.

Newsweek stated on Wednesday that the Biden administration is expected to issue another batch of stimulus checks, despite the treasury secretary’s contention that the conventional definition of recession doesn’t fit with the times.

Tara Sinclair, a professor of economics at George Washington University, remarked that the timing of the upcoming round of relief is horrible.

She said that more economic stimulation would most likely just result in increased inflation rather than more economic development.
