Investigators say five men forcefully took ATM machines from dozens of businesses in Brooklyn and Queens during a six-month burglary operation, and they’re asking for the public’s help in finding them.
Check cashing companies, a café, barber shops, and other businesses were attacked at various hours of the day and night.
The New York Police Department stated in a statement that between Thursday, December 2, 2021, and Thursday, June 2, 2022, five unidentified people broke and damaged the front doors of business establishments in Brooklyn and Queens to obtain admission.
They violently removed ATM machines carrying over $60,000 in cash once they were inside. According to the NYPD, no injuries were recorded as a consequence of these instances.
Investigators revealed surveillance footage showing two of the suspects taking an ATM from a deli in Brooklyn at 3 a.m. on May 24.
The video shows one of the suspects attempting to pull an ATM out of the company via a damaged window by lifting crates of food and other things. The hands of another suspect may be seen reaching through the shattered glass.
According to authorities, a total of 37 ATMs were taken. In early April, the suspects are also suspected of stealing two automobiles parked on the street in separate instances.
The unnamed individuals were described as being in their 20s to 30s by police.
