While it’s fashionable right now to remind people that the 2nd Amendment exists to protect us from a tyrannical government rather than to allow us to hunt or defend ourselves against brigands and thieves, the ability to defend oneself provided by the 2nd Amendment remains important, especially now that crime has become such a problem in America.
A Texas homeowner caught a burglar attempting to break into his home, he had no choice but to shoot him in order to eliminate the threat and defend his family.
According to the Dale County Sheriff’s Office, a Midland City resident shot a guy who attempted to break into his home early Wednesday.
According to Chief Deputy Mason Bynum, the suspect tried multiple methods to gain entrance into the house, including entering via a child’s bedroom window.
The intruder was shot in the head by the homeowner, who was taken to a Dothan hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to Bynum.
According to a statement from Dale County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Mason Bynum, the Ozark-Dale County E911 received a 911 report of a burglary in progress from a resident in the 5000 block of County Road 14 in the Sylvan Grove subdivision about 5:44 a.m.
The suspect shattered an external window of the property and began making entrance while the caller was informing dispatchers. The homeowner fired a gun at the suspect as he approached the window, hitting him in the head.
If the homeowner, like many Americans, had been unarmed, he would have had two poor alternatives. One option would have been to try to improvise a weapon, such as a kitchen knife or a baseball bat, to fend off the burglar, which would have been more riskier than just shooting him. The second option would be to simply hope the cops came in time, which may have resulted in a variety of awful situations.
