According to accounts, a Florida truck driver was detained and charged with attempted murder when New York officials responding to an upstate petrol station discovered a baby drenched in flammable gasoline.
A second guy, who has not been identified, was seized at the site and is anticipated to face charges as a reporter.
After responding to a report of flames, Seneca County Sheriff’s officers discovered the baby inside the Tyre, New York, petrol station. A 4-year-old boy was also discovered alone inside a tractor-trailer with head injuries. Both youngsters are anticipated to recover completely.
According to WABC, Jamie Avery Jr., 25, is charged with attempted murder, arson, and endangering the welfare of a child.
According to WPBF-TV in West Palm Beach, Florida, “it is alleged that the two suspects poured a flammable liquid on the 1-year-old child and attempted to light the child on fire inside the building,” Lt. Timothy Thompson stated in a press conference. “Fortunately, both of them failed.”
“We’re still looking into the circumstances surrounding the 4-year-old,” Thompson added. According to WPBF, investigators believe Avery was the children’s father.
