After reading polling showing that Latino voters were more inclined to vote for the Left than the Right, Maher started his rant.
“I was also reading about Lin-Manuel Miranda, the Hamilton star, this week and you know, he won Pulitzer Prize for that.” Maher stated that he has a new musical called “In the Heights”, which is about Washington Heights. His parents, who are Puerto Rican and came from Puerto Rico to come to the United States, are his parents. This book was written by someone half Puerto Rican. It received 96% Rotten Tomatoes. It was loved by everyone. He received great reviews and has since apologized profusely. Why? There are two black leads, and one Latinx performer, but not Afro-Latinx. This was discovered by the committee who takes note of each person’s skin tone. Lin-Manuel Miranda then had to apologize and learn from the feedback. It was an important issue and I appreciate your concern. I am listening. “I promise to do better on my future projects.”
“This was what I was discussing with Nicki — please stop the apologizing. You are the one who made the founder fathers Hispanic and black. Twitter is not the place to be sorry. This is why Democrats are hated. It’s disgusting,” Maher said, adding later that people used not to “grovel and excuse” when someone was offended.
He just wants to stay out of the news cycle. He continued, “I don’t blame you,” he said. “You know what? I get it. These bullies will eventually be stopped. It’s bullying. It’s bullying. He’s a Latino making a Latino film with a Latino cast. It’s not good enough. These people are not satisfied with anything. They are like children. They don’t know how to raise them right, and that’s what the media shows. Nobody ever says to their children, “Shut the F*** Up, Sit Down, Listen to Your Elders, Stop B****ing.”
