On Wednesday, a Florida man was injured while attempting to protect his canines from a larger dog that revealed out to be a bear.
The man drops to his knees and wrestles the bear back outside the porch opening, as can be seen in the video, which shows the bear breaching the porch entrance in an apparent attempt to catch the nearest dog.
The bear scratches and bites the man during the struggle, leaving him dazed after hastily placing a bench at the entryway doorway as a barricade.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission released the footage on Facebook on Friday, saying the man’s injuries were not life-threatening and that the ruckus helped the bear flee.
At around 7:30 p.m., the terrifying episode occurred at the man’s Daytona Beach home. The dogs were unharmed.
The FWC noted in a press release that it is looking for the bear and that if it is captured, it would be exterminated because it represents a danger to human safety.
The FWC also stated that this was the second time a bear had hurt a Florida citizen in the last week.
