For more than a month, the Russian government has been brutalizing Ukraine with the help of its military.
All of this stems from Russian President Vladimir Putin’s erroneous belief that Ukraine is his to take. Schools, children’s centers, maternity units, hospitals, and other facilities in Ukraine have been bombed by Russia.
In addition to causing untold amounts of devastation, they have committed a series of heinous war crimes against Ukrainians. Meanwhile, Ukraine has held its ground and fought back for far longer than anyone anticipated.
In response to Russia’s attacks, a number of Western countries, including the United States, have imposed sanctions on the country.
The incumbent president stated during a news conference in Brussels that he never claimed that sanctions would dissuade Putin from attacking Ukraine.
However, Biden’s own vice president, Joe Biden, stated the opposite. During her own overseas trip, Harris stated unequivocally that the goal of sanctions was and continues to be deterrence.
Today Biden again said that sanctions would not “deter” Putin from invading Ukraine.

His administration said the EXACT OPPOSITE for weeks.

It is indeed unknown why Biden claims otherwise. However, if the president actually believes that sanctions against Russia’s leadership would not deter future aggression or disincentivize existing aggression, it begs the issue of why Biden is imposing them.
The White House has yet to issue an official explanation for the president’s remarks made in Brussels. However, this occurrence does not reflect good on the international scene.
It will also do little to reassure US friends about our country’s strength and willingness to face difficulties.
Biden publicly grappled with whether or not Putin was a war criminal before declaring that sanctions aren’t supposed to prevent anything.

One thing is certain: if former President Donald Trump were still in office, America would be in a lot better situation, and Ukraine would not be under siege.
