According to a rumor, Twitter has hired a prestigious merger law firm to represent it in its lawsuit against Tesla CEO Elon Musk for withdrawing his $44 billion bid to acquire the business.
A lawsuit against the corporation will be handled by Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz LLP.
In a letter to Twitter on Friday, the Tesla CEO’s legal team claimed that the social media platform had violated many terms of the original deal and that it seemed to have made false and misleading statements when Musk agreed to purchase the business on April 25.
The Tesla CEO has threatened to walk away from the contract if the firm cannot demonstrate that fewer than 5% of its daily active users are automated spam accounts. Musk’s staff has expressed worries about spam bots on the network.
According to Musk, Twitter vastly overestimated the amount of these spam bots using their site. According to many stories at the time, Twitter reportedly promised Musk access to its firehose of raw data on hundreds of millions of daily tweets, though neither the business nor Musk verified this.
During a meeting with executives on Thursday to discuss the company’s bogus and bot accounts, Twitter stated that it eliminates 1 million spam accounts daily.
During the call, Twitter stated that the spam accounts make for much less than 5% of its active user base each quarter. IP addresses, phone numbers, and location are examples of private data that isn’t accessible to the general public and isn’t included in the data firehose sent to Musk. According to Twitter, this sensitive information helps prevent falsely labeling actual accounts as spam.
Requests for comment on Sunday were not immediately answered by SpaceX, Tesla, or Twitter.
The report was neither confirmed or denied by the Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz receptionist.
