In a mocked piece on Thursday, “CBS Mornings” promoted a recent study linking climate change and greater temperatures with rising rates of childhood obesity.
Nate Burleson, a co-host, brought a report that claimed that climate change, notably higher temperatures, is contributing to our children’s increased inactivity and obesity. The study was published in the journal “Temperature.”
Today’s children are 30% less aerobically fit than their parents were at their age, a new study found.

Burleson said that the study’s findings showed children to be 30% less aerobically fit than their parents and that the study’s findings were due to youngsters being unable to exercise outside due to the heat.
Although the host focused on other variables that are known to impact childhood obesity, the episode was mostly about climate change.
Unfortunately, a lot of individuals criticized the broadcast on social media due to the segment’s major focus on climate change as a factor in the rise in obesity cases. The current Covid epidemic and related lockdowns, according to Twitter users, should have been recognized as a contributing cause.
Several others also emphasized the notion that technology is the primary cause of the declining levels of fitness. “Its not climate change. its giving them an ipad at 2 years old instead of letting them roam a playpen.”
The absence of physical exercise encouraged by schools, according to another person, “Wouldn’t have anything to do with schools getting rid of recess or the huge amount of time parents substitute a IPad in for parenting.”
In America, childhood obesity is notably a severe health concern. In the US, 1 in 5 children and adolescents are now obese, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
