Calls For NJ Democratic Councilwoman To Resign After Video Emerges

Democratic Jersey City Councilwoman Amy DeGise was engaged in a horrifying hit-and-run that sent a delivery guy into the air, and traffic cameras filmed the incident.

On July 19, at around 8:00 am, DeGise sped through a Jersey City junction. Andrew Black, a 29-year-old UberEats deliveryman, was struck by DeGise’s black Nissan Rogue. Black was forcibly thrown into the air by the collision before landing on the pavement. Black’s shoes came off due to the impact’s ferocity. Black was hurled feet from the collision along with his destroyed bicycle.

DeGise rushed away from the hit-and-run incident without slowing down at all when she sideswiped the bicycle.

A Black man stumbles to the sidewalk. Black is unable to assess his wounds without bracing himself against a street pole.

The man’s lost flip-flop, which was in the middle of the street, is brought to him by a woman. Black is given a cooler to sit on by another onlooker as he tries to recuperate from the collision.

Black, who has post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), was thankful that, despite having deep bruises, he did not sustain serious physical injuries. However, he claims that the experience has already heightened his anxiety.

It appears that DeGise had the right of way and the rider crossed a red light, despite Black’s claim to the contrary. According to reports, she received a summons for fleeing the scene of an accident without reporting it.

DeGise is the daughter of current county executive Tom DeGise, a councilwoman at-large for Jersey City, and a previous leader of the Democrats in Hudson County.

Following the hit-and-run, calls are being made for DeGise to step down.

DeGise had unlawfully parked in November and had been operating a vehicle with an expired registration since that year. The councilwoman’s automobile was in the way of turning trucks, and because of its illegitimate placement on the roadway, it was struck.

Using the excuse that she had a relative who was an officer, DeGise appears to try to escape the car that is being impounded in a police body cam footage.

The officer is then informed by DeGise that she spoke with someone in Jersey City’s mayor’s office.

She receives a ticket and her SUV is impounded after the police refuse to yield to pressure.
