Florida Woman Accused Of Using Covid-Relief Loan To Hire Hitman

According to freshly unsealed court documents obtained by local media, a Florida lady allegedly used coronavirus treatment monies from the Paycheck Protection Program to hire a hitman accused of killing a Transportation Security Administration officer near Miami last year.

According to jail records, Jasmine D. Martinez, 33, is being held in St. Lucie County on accusations of first-degree murder, attempted murder, and conspiracy to commit murder. She’ll most likely be taken into custody in Miami-Dade.

On a litany of connected accusations, Javon Carter and Romiel Robinson are already imprisoned there.

According to the Miami Herald, who obtained court records confirming the charges, Martinez is suspected of receiving $15,000 in PPP money, the most of which went toward paying Carter to allegedly gun down Le’Shonte Jones, 24, in front of her 3-year-old on May 3.

Robinson allegedly used coded language to arrange a $10,000 fee for Carter after Martinez received the coronavirus relief money.

Carter allegedly gathered his money after the shooting, posed with it in a selfie video, and remarked, “Just another day at the office,” according to the docs.

According to the article, the warrant had been sealed since earlier this month, when police arrested Carter but were still looking for Martinez.

Martinez has a 22-page criminal record in Florida, which includes convictions for domestic abuse, theft, and selling a handgun with a tampered serial number, according to court documents. Jones was a victim in several of them, including an ongoing robbery case and assault charges that had been dismissed.

Carter’s criminal record is nearly twice as long, with several felony convictions, including crimes involving firearms and weapons, burglary, and grand theft.

Robinson’s lawyer told the Herald that his client had been in detention for a long time and had nothing to do with the homicide.
