Community groups claim that city officials in Los Angeles are seeking to hide the homeless epidemic rather than addressing it before the Super Bowl.

Yolanda Gonzalez, who lives across the street from a local library where camps just relocated said that “It started with one tent, and then, eventually, in less than three weeks, all of a sudden, all these tents went up.”
In just a few weeks, Gonzalez said, roughly 40 camps had sprung up in her neighborhood.
Heidi Roberts, the founder of HAAVEN Shared Housing, is quoted as saying that the city’s efforts to dismantle the encampments were mainly ineffective.
Mike Bonin, a Venice City Councilman, bemoaned obstructionists who claim to oppose encampments yet strive to prevent every option, including his programs to help the homeless in a proactive manner.
