According to a poll issued Tuesday, a slight majority of Americans (52%) do not expect President Biden to run for re-election in 2024, citing his age, low favorability ratings, and response to inflation and rising costs as reasons.
According to the Wall Street Journal poll, 28 percent expect him to win a second term, while 19 percent are undecided.
41 percent of Democrats believe he will run in 2024, 32 percent believe he will not, and 26 percent are undecided.
The president has not formally declared his intention to run in 2024, when he will be 82 years old during his swearing-in ceremony if re-elected, but many close to him predict he will make a decision after November’s midterm elections, according to the source.

According to the study, a hypothetical showdown between the 45th and 46th presidents would result in a near tie — 45 percent — however 40 percent say they would certainly vote for Biden, compared to 38 percent who say they would vote for Trump.
However, coming into the 2022 midterm elections, Republicans have the upper hand.
When asked which party they would vote for if the election were conducted today, 46% said Republicans, 41% said Democrats, and 13% said they were undecided, unsure, or refused to respond.
Among those planning to vote in November, 63 percent believe the country is heading in the wrong way, 50 percent believe inflation and the economy are the most pressing issues confronting the country, and 65 percent believe the economy is heading in the wrong path.
The poll, which was conducted between March 2 and 7, polled 1,500 people in the United States.
It has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.5 percentage points.
