State Trooper Helps Pregnant Woman After Spotting Vehicle At 100 MPH

After first pulling over a pregnant lady and her boyfriend for speeding, a quick-thinking Massachusetts state trooper is being praised for helping her get to a hospital in time to safely deliver her baby.

State Trooper Jose Cabrera spotted a car driving over 100 miles per hour on Route 91 in West Springfield about noon Wednesday and, predictably, pulled it to a stop, according to a Facebook post from the Massachusetts State Police.

The driver then informed Cabrera that he was speeding because his girlfriend, who was also in the vehicle, was in labor and her water had just burst.

He originally requested an ambulance from dispatch, but none was available, so the trooper acted on his own, according to the post.

Cabrera then told the expecting mother that he would bring her to the hospital, loading her into the back of his cruiser and telling her boyfriend to follow behind.

He then accompanied the expecting woman into Mercy Medical Center, where she delivered her healthy baby safely.

Cabrera, who was permitted to touch the child, posed in a photo with the unnamed mother as a thank you gesture.
