Hunter Biden, together with his taxpayer-funded security detail, appears to be spending his father’s presidency in luxury in Malibu.
According to sources familiar with the situation, the Secret Service detail protecting the president’s controversial son has been paying more than $30,000 per month to rent out a posh Malibu, California property for nearly a year.
The house was chosen by the agency in charge of securing the president and his family, as well as other high-ranking government officials, in order to be as close as possible to Biden’s own rented estate, for which he pays roughly $20,000 per month, according to property listings.
The arrangement, according to retired senior Secret Service agent Don Mihalek, is a cost of doing business for the Secret Service, which has a statutory protective obligation for the president, the first family, and anybody else the president designates for protection under federal law.

When Joe Biden became the Democratic presidential contender in June 2020, the Secret Service began providing round-the-clock protection to the younger Biden and other members of the Biden family. Hunter Biden’s Malibu home includes a four-bedroom, three-bathroom resort-style home with an open floor layout, vaulted high ceilings, chef’s kitchen, and French doors, according to the listing. According to the description, the property also has a large park-like yard with a pool, spa, built-in BBQ bar, and alfresco dining.
According to the ad, the home is situated on 0.7 acres atop a hill and offers magnificent 180-degree panoramic ocean views.
